The Marine Art of Rick Hopper
About the Artist

Rick Hopper is a married father of two residing in Freeland Michigan, USA.  A U.S. Coast Guard Veteran, Mr. Hopper developed his love of Great Lakes history while serving.

As a hobby, he has developed a unique method of depicting Great Lakes Vessels in a half hull form that can be displayed upon any wall. He has been featured in galleries and fine art shops throughout Michigan, and competes in juried fine art events throughout the state.
About the models

Specializing in half hull models, each artpiece is custom made with every fitting and piece totally handcrafted and painted by award winning marine artist Rick Hopper.

Mounted within a choice of oak, mahagony, or cherry cases, these models make a stunning and unique addition to the descriminating tastes of the nautical collector.

Perfect for the office or home,  each scale model measures  40 inches long, 15 inches high, and 4-6 inches deep. All finished models are mounted atop an actual nautical chart that depicts the operational area, or area of significance for the ship.

Each model takes approximately 150-300 hours to handcraft and paint.  Because the scale is dictated by the size of the nautical chart used as a background, every fitting has to be individually created by the artist.

Rick Hopper specializes in custom crafted commissions of almost any ship desired.
